Never really looked into this but is it worthwhile having on a 95% ES soso? If so, why? and what would be a good value?

Yes and no, DTM% is good to have because a fraction of the damage taken to your life is given to your mana, this does not lower the amount of damage your life takes, however. It really depends what you're sacrificing to get this DTM%. I'd say any DTM% you get from normal gear is good to have, but sacrificing DR or life or something to get it wouldn't be worth, imho.

it is if you max telek, which allows you to have only 75% of the damage you take go to mana, rare dtm jewels are 12% each, if you can find a way to get 75% dtm like i do on 1 of my sorcs. then you can easily become nearly unkillable even with a lower es% because even though your hp still takes damage your mana does not. it negates any mana loss apoun hit whatsoever because you gain back the same or more than the damage. meaning you have nearly infinite mana when combined with warmth, the only thing to worry about is hp. and if you have atleast 20 life rep or higher just run around a little bit and you'll be right as rain. this is why ive never cared about mana pots on sorcs. you don't need them if you understand the game at a deep level. if you use zyrion's old build shit gets nerdy real fast. i won't reveal his secret build but lets just say you would get bored dueling a character that can't possibly die. i don't build 100% true zyrion chars cause they aren't really my style. theyre mostly for trolling and don't do shit loads of damage. (only like 8k fb) but you literally can 1v7 on it given enough time and if they don't have alot of stun to hold you down. so if you have 95% es lets say 5% of the damage you take is like... 100 hp to your 800 hp or whatever you have. and you have 20 life rep. it will take you roughly 3-5 seconds to rep it all back. mb builds are also easy on these sorcs. as you don't really need spirit. i always use whistans or gerkes. mosers with dtm jewels if you have trouble reaching 75% dtm also keep in mind if you duel other sorcs that bolt comes out a little faster and costs next to no mana but fireball has aoe and can graze people and still do damage. the splash isn't just on impact with a object it's during travel as well. but firebolt is a really good tool for svs. same with ice bolt on a blizzer. blizzer is more of a finisher tool or a tool to punish people who are either overly greedy or don't move enough. it keeps them dancing at the pace you set. nl c/t blizz's can be cast from nearly off map (sometimes off map if they tele at the right time) and blizzard occupies a 9x9 diablo2 squares radius of effective damage zone. meaning you don't have to place your blizard at their feet to deal damage. you can clip people with carefully considered and well placed blizzards and have the same effect. light sorcs have different fcr breakpoints because the lightning spell and chain lighting spell THEMSELVES have different breakpoints than everything else. do your reasearch when building a light sorc. it's important. remember that rare 20's sorc orbs can be just as effective or more than a eschutas or fathom but fathom's and eschutas still have viable uses. consider all options when making sorcs as they are the most complicated build intensive characters in diablo 2. for armor's instead of the typical chains of honor most people go with. try a serpent skin with a pskull, or dtm jewel. or a btals armor with dtm jewel. ormus is decent if you have a 3 es one and you're a fber because it allows you to reach 95es and not use 3 light gcs. (cause fbers need light gcs to reach 95 es normally they use a mix of both fire and light which lowers dmg) so a ormus with 3 es on a 95 es fber actually adds more dmg than 3 fb on the ormus would or 3 fire mastery because 3 fire skill gcs is 3 to ALL fire skills fire mastery included.. don't forget about mana crafts. rings with 100+ mana and mana boots. a sorc amulet with 100+ mana with life rep is good also. sorcs don't need more than 10 fcr on their amulets do to bp's being easily reachable. so a 2 sorc 10 fcr 10 life rep 120 mana and 10% mana regen isn't a bad amulet choice.. on open or west or a private server. wizardspike gloves are 100% the way to go. if not then it's up you to pick between frostburns or magefist. trangs on a sorc aren't as good. magefist offers 1 to fire skills and reg mana 25%, and frost burns offer 40% to total mana (which is a fucking shit load i must remind you) and because wizard spike gloves make reaching 105 so easy you can also use sojs instead of 100+ mana fcr rings and gain extra dmg + keep massive mana. sojs are the absolute best ring for a es sorc in the entire game. for a belt. you have 3 choices. 4 if you know the secret zyrion build but i won't reveal it. siggards stealth bug belt which has 1 all skills 20% dr 20 all res and 15-25 str and dex. arach mesh belt. which has reg mana and 1 all skills and 20 fcr, and lastly a mana belt craft with 10% fcr 24% fhr if ur having a hard time hitting 86% fhr bp and shit loads of mana + mana regen. maybe some res. i think i covered boots already. but just incase ill go over it again. either mana crafts. with 30% frw 60 mana 5% max mana 10% mana regen and either your choice of 10% fhr or 9dex or res. the 9 dex option is for if you have trouble hitting the max block with whistans eld and no dex put in. i use a swap on my sorc to hit the mb setup. i have a circ with dex jewels and dex jeweled orb/btals to hit mb with whistan and when i don't need it i swap to dtm setup gear. the other boots you can use are silkweaves. but that's only if you can't get your hands on crafts which on open and private servers should be a piece of cake. as for helm you should always use a 20's circlet. 100% of the time. even on blizzers. i honestly dont' think nightwings veil is very good and while griffs offers alot of damage you lose many other mods that increase survivability which is a es sorcs primary concern over dealing damage.. also.. build with 8 gcs in mind.. since on open and private you will want to build with 13x bmanas (15 life 70 mana bugged small charms) they cost about 6k-7k fg each on closed so that's only possible on their if you are stinking filthy rich. if you aren't and you need for closed. then use 13x 20 life 17 mana small charms. if you are a 95% es fber and you don't use a 3 es ormus i might be mistaken but i think you will need exactly 4 light gcs and 4 fire gcs. if you do use one then you only need the 1 light gc i think. i could be mistaken don't quote me 100%. i advise doing your own research and seeing what build maximizes effectiveness for what you're building and figuring it out for yourself i just posted this to give whoever reads it a push in the right direction. most people have spent 10+ years playing diablo and have zero idea how to build sorcs because they never learned how from the right people. it's not a easy cookie cutter character. hope it helped.
